Check Elko County VINELink

Nevada S.A.V.E. now handles what VINELink once did statewide. After an Elko County arrest, one custody check through SAVE can confirm whether a named person is held. The service suits victims, advocates, family members, and attorneys. Register, and SAVE sends notice of a release, transfer, or supervision change. It is not a full arrest-history search. Fresh Elko County bookings can lag, and some jails go offline. For anything time-sensitive, confirm with the detention center.

SAVE Replaced Nevada VINELink

Nevada retired VINE and moved to Nevada S.A.V.E., which stands for Survivors, Advocates, Victims and Enforcement Notifications. The state Attorney General set the switchover for midnight on August 28, 2025. VINE signups were shut off while the transition ran. Old alerts stopped shortly after. Anyone doing an Elko County custody check today should register through SAVE rather than the old VINELink path.

The rebrand goes deeper than a name. SAVE tracks the person, not the incident. If someone is released, moved, or taken back into custody, the system follows along. That works better for families watching an Elko County arrest unfold. Still, it is no booking ledger. It is not a court docket or a certified criminal history either.

Current system: Use SAVE for Nevada searches and registration. Treat VINELink references as historical unless an official Nevada source says otherwise.

The official Nevada SAVE home page is the live starting point.

Nevada SAVE custody search for an Elko County arrest check

The SAVE search page carries the state lookup along with notices that data updates on a delay and that some facilities can go offline.

Elko County SAVE Coverage

The Elko County Sheriff's Office points its inmate-search notice to the new state system. Meanwhile, the county builds a replacement inmate-information platform. That makes SAVE the official statewide fallback for a custody check on a named person. It does not promise that every new Elko County Detention Center booking shows up instantly. Nor does it mean the local jail stays online around the clock. SAVE finds people currently in Nevada custody or under supervision. Someone who has already been released may not appear. A past registrant can stay enrolled, though, and get notice of a future arrest. The interface includes an Offline Jails area. Check it before trusting a blank result. When the jail is offline, a missing match tells you nothing about a fresh booking.

Note: A SAVE hit reports status under SAVE’s rules; it does not prove guilt or supply a full Elko arrest history.

Search Elko Custody on SAVE

Give enough detail to separate people with similar names. SAVE takes a full name, a partial name, or an ID number. Since custody and supervision status can shift fast, note the time you ran the Elko County search.

  1. Open the official SAVE site and review any service or Offline Jails notice.
  2. Enter a full name as first name followed by last name, or enter the person’s system ID when known.
  3. For a partial search, enter at least the first three letters of the first name and first three letters of the last name with a space between them.
  4. Complete the CAPTCHA, review all possible matches, and compare available identifiers before selecting a result.
  5. Read the custody or supervision label and facility information exactly as shown, then record the check time.
  6. If no suitable result appears, try a verified spelling or ID and contact SAVE support or ECSO detention rather than drawing a final conclusion.

SAVE works best when you search for one person you already have in mind. It is not a way to browse everyone arrested in Elko County. For same-day arrest status and the county's official fallback options, see the 24 Hour Arrests page.

Elko SAVE Results Explained

SAVE results need careful reading. The service updates its files periodically, and it states plainly that what it returns is not an official record. Field details depend on which agency supplied the data, so treat the table as the firm line between what the screen shows and what you assume.

Result elementWhat it can establish
Name or offender IDIdentifies the record returned by SAVE, subject to a careful match.
Custody statusStates the person’s status in the participating system at the update shown.
Supervision statusMay show a person under state supervision rather than inside a county jail.
Facility or locationShows the contributing custody location when the record provides it.
Notification optionsAllow registration for supported custody, release, transfer, or supervision changes.
Update or search timeHelps show how current the observation was, but not when every source last transmitted data.

SAVE stops at custody status. It will not reveal how a case ended. For outcomes, go straight to the Elko County court that handled the matter, whether municipal, justice, or district. One more wrinkle exists. If a person moves into Nevada state-prison custody after sentencing, the Department of Corrections keeps a separate offender profile that stands apart from SAVE.

Register Elko Custody Alerts

New users enroll through the SAVE account-registration page. That screen has shown a notice saying account creation is temporarily unavailable. The notice reflects a service condition. Check back rather than assume the door is closed. If online registration stays blocked, the 24-hour support line is the backup.

  1. Open the SAVE registration screen and first read any current availability message.
  2. Provide the required email and create a password that follows the rules displayed on the form.
  3. Add an optional first and last name, then choose the available email, SMS, phone, or TTY notification methods.
  4. Set after-hours choices where the SMS, phone, or TTY screen offers them.
  5. Create the requested security question and answer, and complete advocate and agency details only when that workflow applies.
  6. Confirm the account and connect the correct person’s record before relying on future notices.

Ignore older VINE cheat sheets that mention a phone line, a four-digit PIN, or 15-minute updates. That guidance is out of date. The SAVE registration page shows the sign-up choices that apply now.

Elko SAVE Phone Support

SAVE's around-the-clock phone contact is 866-393-5445, with NVSave@ag.nv.gov for email. Email replies take up to three business days. Call instead when an account will not open or an alert problem cannot wait. The Attorney General runs SAVE. Its data comes from local law enforcement and the Nevada Department of Corrections. The Attorney General does not hold anyone listed in the system. For current Elko County jail verification, call the Elko County Detention Center at 775-777-2531. That office sits closest to the county custody question. Each piece has its owner: ECSO detention handles local custody. The arresting agency holds the incident report. And the court decides the case.

NDOC Alerts After Elko Sentencing

After sentencing, a different agency takes over. The Nevada Department of Corrections Victim Services Unit handles alerts for offenders in NDOC custody, and its registration goes by written request. The form asks for the offender's full name and NDOC ID, your relationship and reason, and contact details. NDOC lists an email and a mailing address. Write NDOCVictimServices@doc.nv.gov or post it to 5500 Snyder Ave, Carson City, NV 89701. SAVE is only a supplement here. NDOC says it cannot replace mailed registration. That split matters only after an Elko arrest ends in a prison sentence, since a county booking stays an ECSO matter while state inmates belong to NDOC and supervised people carry a different status.

Elko Custody Systems Beyond SAVE

SAVE stops at state lines, more or less. Federal inmates need a different tool. The Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator covers anyone incarcerated in the federal system from 1982 onward, and it accepts register-number or demographic searches. BOP adds two cautions. A listed release date may still need verification. "Not in BOP Custody" doesn't rule out another form of custody, since federal pretrial detainees can sit outside the locator's scope. Immigration custody works differently again. The ICE Online Detainee Locator covers current detainees and some people released within the prior 60 days. ICE notes that some records appear late or get withheld for safety reasons. So keep federal, immigration, state-prison, county-jail, and supervision statuses separate, because no single result tells the whole story.

Verify a missing result: Check spelling, ID, Offline Jails, and the correct custody system before concluding that a person was released or never arrested.

Elko Arrest Alerts Need Context

A custody alert says where, not why. It flags a change in custody. It won't explain a charge change. It can't say whether prosecutors filed, or how the court ruled. Release can follow bond, a court order, a finished sentence, a transfer, or another event entirely. An alert is not a legal conclusion. Treat it as a lead. Confirm the person's current location with the agency holding them, then turn to the proper court record for the disposition. Save the SAVE observation time too. A later correction can keep an old alert from being mistaken for present status. One leftover: the legacy VINELink site may still appear in an old search or bookmark.

That legacy reference only documents the branding change; new Nevada searches and registrations belong on SAVE.
